Kamil Kanat
After graduating from the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema at Istanbul University’s Faculty of Communication, he worked in the media industry for many years. In the television sector, he held various roles—including assistant director, reporter, editor, and content producer—at organizations such as TRT 2, HBB TV, Kanal E, and Star TV.
In print media, he worked in the fields of economics, finance, and news for various newspapers and magazines, most notably Dünya Gazetesi, Para Dergisi, and Borsamatik.
In 2000, he founded spekulator.com. The site quickly became one of Turkey’s largest and most influential stock market and economics websites. By bringing together financial news, market information, and investor-focused content in a digital environment, spekulator.com was among the pioneering projects that led the digitization of economic and financial journalism at a time when online publishing in Turkey was still in its early stages.
The habits of research, source verification, attention to detail, and content creation that he developed during his years in journalism and digital publishing later became one of the fundamental methods in Teighaus’s product development and recipe research.
In subsequent years, he completed his master’s degree in the social sciences at Yıldız Technical University.
Later in his career, he turned his attention to gastronomy and completed the Culinary Arts Program at Anadolu University; he earned mastery certificates in cooking, pastry/dessert making, and baking. In addition to his mastery and master instructor certifications, he participated in training programs in various fields, including artisan sourdough bread, pizza, kebabs, and barista skills.
Spending a period of his life in Salzburg, Austria, allowed him to become intimately familiar with Central European daily life, bread culture, pastry shops, and traditional baked goods. In particular, the deep-rooted baking and pastry traditions of Austria and Germany became one of the key influences in shaping Teighaus’s product line.
In Teighaus’s kitchen, this accumulated knowledge is used not merely to replicate traditional recipes, but to reinterpret them in today’s production conditions by understanding their techniques, history, and character.
Long, controlled fermentation, sourdough, and hybrid doughs, real butter, high-quality ingredients, and production with as few additives as possible form the foundation of Teighaus’s approach. Instead of ready-made mixes, margarine, and industrial shortcuts, the focus is on time, technique, research, and the natural character of the ingredients.
Kamil Kanat is responsible not only for Teighaus’s product development and production processes but also for its website, social media content, photography and video work, brochures, promotional copy, and the brand’s overall communication style. His background in media and digital publishing is thus reflected not only in Teighaus’s kitchen but also in the brand’s visual, written, and digital identity.
Today, Teighaus represents an artisan patisserie & kitchen philosophy where the research discipline honed in journalism, digital publishing experience, Central European culture acquired in Salzburg, culinary education, and years of recipe development all converge in the same kitchen.
Teighaus is not merely a kitchen that produces goods; it is a philosophy of production born out of learning, research, respect for tradition, and the combination of quality ingredients with the right techniques.
